Our Mission

The mission of Heritage Baptist Church is to reach those throughout the world who are without Christ with the Gospel and to build up and strengthen those who are saved through the presentation of sound doctrine.

Our History

Heritage Baptist Church was established on August19th, 1979 as a small group which met together to worship the Lord in the TraveLodge on Route 73 in Mount Laurel, New Jersey.

At the first meeting, twenty people were present for Sunday School and twenty-five for the Morning Worship service. Rev. Darrel Smith was used by the Lord to establish Heritage Baptist Church under the Church Planting Program of Bob Jones University of Greenville, South Carolina. He served as the only Pastor of the church until March, 2001. Pastor Smith faithfully provided direction and leadership for the Spiritual and numerical growth of the church family and construction of the Church Sanctuary and Educational building.

The Loft Seed Company was approached in September, 1979 about donating some and to the church. By the end of December, 1979, this company had generously donated 40 acres of land.

In March, 1980, God provided the Old Historical House on the corner of Route 38 and Hartford Road as the next home for Heritage Baptist Church. The first service in the new location was held on June 22, 1980. This was approximately two miles from the land that had been donated to the Church.

Construction of the present church sanctuary began in November, 1981 on the 40 acres located at 530 Union Mill Road, Mount Laurel, New Jersey.

Many of the church people contributed countless hours of time and energy toward the completion of this project. This new building became home for Heritage Baptist Church in July, 1984.

In 1987, the church began construction of an Educational Annex to house the Heritage Christian Academy. The donation of time and materials by supporters of this ministry made possible the completion of this project.

Heritage Christian Academy opened officially in September, 1988 with 31 students enrolled.

The Reverend Roy R. Wise became Pastor in September, 2001, and continues to the present. Dr. Wise has been used of the Lord to bring about stability and growth both spiritually and financially.

Numerical and spiritual growth are realized by a constant emphasis upon the Scriptures, and the ministry of leading people to Christ.
